Artist Research

Pablo Picasso
Picasso was born in Magala, Spain on October 25, 1881 and lived until April 8, 1971.
His primary type of artwork was painting, drawing and sculpture.
For his work Pablo Picasso used oil paint and even everyday materials such as newspapers.
Picasso's art period was analytic cubism and synthetic cubism.
Analytic cubism was a type of collage, introduced by Picasso and Braque, this collage used specific shapes and characteristic details to present a whole object.
Synthetic cubism is a also a collage that integrated pieces of other materials such as newspapers, cigarette packs, and playing cards. It was the first form of pop art.
A few facts about Picasso are:
  • His full name was Pablo Diego Jose Fransisco de Paula Nepomuceno Maria de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santisima Trinidad Ruiz y Picasso
  • His first words are said to be "piz piz" a child's attemot at lapiz, the spanish word for pencil
  • He was aslo said to be a superticious man
